Large-format drawings

These are highly detailed narratives that convey various life experiences, inner reflections, and spiritual journeys. In these drawings, we find a love for line work, precision, and a flourishing abundance of details. These pieces are created through a long and patient process, with great precision. For Teddy Ros, it represents a form of meditation, performance, and also a mise en abyme with the viewer, who becomes engrossed in the meticulous observation of the black-and-white or color drawing.

I created the work "Foresta" a few years after my apprenticeship in traditional Amazonian medicine. This drawing shows what I can perceive when I am in the forest, including the spirits, their worlds, and their mischief. For me, every tree, every stone is alive, conscious, and full of humor and wisdom. I have a special affinity and connection with trees, which I portray by personifying them on paper. The work is large and highly detailed to convey the precision of my visions, taking over three months to complete. The abundance of lines and details is intended to encourage the viewer to look from both afar and up close, allowing for an immersion in the world of forest spirits. It also makes the work feel real and tangible. The viewer can then read the work like a story, a book.

Drawing "Aya Diète" 2014, black pen and watercolor on paper, 55 x 46 cm, by the artist Teddy Ros. This work was created while I was on a learning diet with the master/medicinal plant Ayahuasca. It represents the hidden soul of the plant in its two most common forms: the anaconda serpent (symbolizing wisdom and knowledge) and the mother goddess Ayahuasca. The artwork depicts its medicinal realm, the Ayahuasca vine, its fragrances (represented here by flowers), and its many spirits, including humanoids with tiger heads (the guardians of Ayahuasca). These figures are asexed but have feminine faces. This piece references the visionary art of Pablo Amaringo, a former Shipibo-Conibo shaman who turned to shamanic painting later in life. His works also depict the worlds of medicinal plants.

Kambo is a ritual from the Amazon rainforest that involves taking the venom from a frog called *Phyllomedusa bicolor*. This venom induces a powerful purging effect (sweating, vomiting, diarrhea) to eliminate toxins from the body. It is a true purge that lasts about 30 minutes. This "detox," through poisoning, allows for a deep cleanse of the liver as well as other parts of the body, both physically and subtly. I underwent the Kambo ritual a few years ago, and this work was created just after that session. It reflects an intimate experience laid out on paper to share a fragment of it: Inside out!

It is a true work of art both in terms of production, the beauty of the instrument and the sound it produces. This drawing tells of my encounter with this instrument. When I play it, I feel accompanied by many spirits blowing and participating in the rhythms and melodies produced. The great profusion of details transcribes the harmonic range of the instrument, the finesse and precision as well as the richness of its musicality. I also tried to put its essence and musicality on paper using my outlines. The study of the line pays homage to the precision work that such an instrument must have required to be produced. detail 02

When I play it, I feel accompanied by numerous spirits who blow and participate in the rhythms and melodies produced. The extensive details convey the harmonic range of the instrument, its finesse and precision, as well as the richness of its musicality. I also aimed to capture its essence and musicality on paper through my lines. The study of the line pays tribute to the precision required to create such an instrument.

"Ajo Sacha Vision" 2012, watercolor, markers, and black pen on paper, 59.4 x 42 cm. This work is a tribute to the pharmaceutical plant Ajo Sacha, with which I learned Shipibo-Conibo traditional medicine based on Amazonian plants. This unique form of medicine is learned by dieting with master/medicinal plants for extended periods in isolation. These plants gradually impart their knowledge and wisdom through dreams, among other means. The artwork represents the bond established between the healer and the plant during the diet. It illustrates how, during a healing session, the spirit and essence of the plant can participate, assist, and accompany the shaman. The spirits/energies of these plants are often perceived as goddesses, queens, or priestesses in their world. They exude a distinctive beauty, presence, and charisma.
