Redrawing the boundaries amidst chaos

Teddy Ros is a prolific, multi-disciplinary artist, having gone through numerous artistic and personal experiments. A genius draftsman, he draws us into a highly detailed narrative that can take unexpected forms depending on his explorations. He weaves the universal with the intimate, in a form of autofiction that leads us through his moments of doubt and terror, as well as his spiritual reflections, deeply rooted in a concrete practice. It is in the vein of Joseph Beuys that he develops a global philosophy and a systemic approach to the world, where invisible and mediumistic forces are central to the creative process.

Teddy Ros often quotes him: “Art is a technique of two worlds. This technique must confront the world of matter and the one beyond matter, that is, the spiritual world… This is the issue of art. Through art, something is brought to man that enables him to live in the physical dimension of life. Art is a substance of nourishment that man needs for his activities.

After incessant explorations, Teddy Ros’s current work, now more formal, consists of “feeding” himself, shifting the lines of his own artistic practice in an attempt to revisit the technicality of drawing, going beyond its demonstrative dimension to reach its essence. This is why we see him revisiting all his previous creations with great boldness: deconstructing the codes of illustration, figuration, shattering and then reassembling, synthesizing, and bringing forth from the chaos the archetypal elements that mutate and reconstruct a visual code, another language.

This process, both instinctive and spontaneous, blends chaos and reconstruction, where forms, lines, and symbols express themselves in a state close to meditation. Inspired by the automatism of surrealism, this approach explores the absence of thought to open inner spaces of silence and freedom, which for him is the true source of all creativity. Gradually, by introducing elements, one reaches an inextricable situation, prompting the question: “What does it say?” leaving this question suspended for each individual. Teddy Ros, now freed from all aesthetic constraints, continues to push the very boundaries of drawing further and further.
